LCL Injury

LCL Injury

Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) is the major supporting aspect for the outside of the knee – it provides stability within the knee, specifically when pushed outward, bending the joint. The LCL is a small ‘rope’ about 5cm long that runs from the thigh bone (femur) to the smaller bone on the outside of the leg (fibula).

LCL injury refers to the three stages of severity people can experience from this type of injury. The first degree of injury is a mild overstretch of the ligament, but without looseness in the joint. Second degree of injury is a partial tear of the LCL, the third degree being the most serious results in severed ligament and the knee is no longer stable or supported.

Bodyassist’s knee support and protection range can offer extra protection while healing, as well as further support to assist in the swift recovery from injury.
